Hello, my name is Mary Tonies. I have been a member of the staff at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School for many years, starting as a Teacher Assistant in First Grade. From there, I taught Kindergarten, Fourth Grade, and I currently teach Third Grade. I have over fifteen years of teaching experience ranging from Kindergarten to Sixth Grade. I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I also earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from National Louis University.
I am married and have two children. Both of my children attended and graduated from Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School. My family and I have been members of Saints Peter & Paul Parish since we moved here in August of 2002 from St. Louis, Missouri. My family and I currently live in Cary, Illinois. We love this community and this parish.
I am looking forward to being your child's Third Grade teacher and getting to know all of you as well. It is my philosophy that open communication between myself, my students, and their parents to foster a positive learning environment is important. I am confident this will be a fun and exciting year providing lessons that operate with an educational philosophy that aims to meet the needs of the children of today, in light of all of our lives through the Church's faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to teach your children in a hands-on learning environment and to model my faith by being compassionate, encouraging, and kind. It is my belief that our role as educators is to permeate our Catholic faith through our instruction and interactions with students, families, and staff.
God Bless all of you and each of your families. Let us work together to make this the best year yet!
