My name is Keyera Shaw and I am excited to introduce myself to you as the new 7th grade teacher! I received my undergraduate degree from Loras College and went to high school at Marian Central Catholic. I am from McHenry and a parishoner of Holy Apostles. Big fan of the Chicago Cubs, Target, and Chipotle. This will be my first-year teaching and I am delighted to spend it here.
In addition, I invite you to reach out to me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org . My office hours for parents 12:25PM – 1:10PM Monday – Friday; during this time, you may email, message, or set up a call/video conference with me. If you contact me outside of my office hours, I ask you to please give me at least 24 hours to respond. I will try to respond as quickly as possible.
I know this is a unique school year for students, parents, and teachers. My job is to teach but also support you and your families in any way I can. Do not hesitate to reach out. An important key this year will be communication. Please be patient as me and colleagues learn how to best navigate remote learning. There are many of us who are using technological tools for the first time with students and we must figure out what works and what does not. We are all in this together!
“Be a bush if you can't be a tree. If you can't be a highway, just be a trail. If you can't be a sun, be a star. For it isn't by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are.”
— Martin Luther King Jr. Speech before a group of students at Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia, October 26, 1967
