Happy October! I can’t believe we are almost through the first quarter already! We are working on walking respectfully in the hall and being organized with homework. I have reminded the students that they are responsible for completing their work and turning it in on time. I have seen much improvement, but we are still working on getting books home, writing assignments down, etc.
October is the month of the Rosary and we will be praying a decade of the Rosary frequently during this month. We also remember intentions during daily prayer so please be sure to let your child know if you or anyone you know is in need of prayer intentions.
We are working on chapter 5 in religion and will be moving on to chapter 6 next week. In science, we are working hard on our new book. The series is amazing – the books are consumable and the activities are excellent! We are working on energy and we will be learning about collisions. Our culminating activity is to design a new safety feature for cars. In Wonders, our language arts program, we will work on unit 2, week 1 for the rest of this week and next week. Therefore, there will be no new spelling list next week, We’ll take the spelling test on unit 2, week 1 on Thursday before we go home for the long weekend.
Homework will be posted daily on School Speak and weekly news, etc. will be posted on the website. We try to find a fun trivia fact of the day or a fun tidbit about history. The kids seem to enjoy learning about national days and interesting trivia. The trivia or historical fact(s) are posted on the assignment sheet each morning. Feel free to submit interesting items that you might come across in your travels. Thank you.
I am planning a candy corn estimation activity and would appreciate it if anyone could donate a bag of candy corn. Thank you.
Looking ahead, the trip to the Shedd Aquarium is tentatively scheduled for April 21, 2020 pending transportation arrangements. I am still waiting for a contract from the bus company.
Thank you for everything you are doing to help make this year one filled with learning and fun. God Bless you!
